‘Yengalai’ Arindhal
I mean the
Audience. If you knew, you would not do this GVM.
Fine, Trilogy excuse accepted,
post Kaakha Kaakha and Vetttaiyadu Vilayadu.
But there were glaring
mistakes, IMHO;
· Simbu was the best and
probably only actor who could do justice to the role in VTV. But GVM, In Yennai Arindhaal
anyone except Ajith could hv been good. Aasai, Vaali and even stylish Billa was
ok for Ajith. He just cannot play intense characters. Dot.
· Anushka as choice of heroine was
worse. She was supposed to be the little sweet thing who needs to be protected.
Here we have Anushka at 5 ft 10” , towering over everyone with what my
wife tells me is called “out of bed hair style”. She does best in mature
roles as in Theiva Thirumagal. Not as someone who will drool at Ajith at
first sight.
· Story was a series of short videos –
poorly put together. A voiceover in the background will not
substitute for Screenplay. Again ‘Dot’!!
· Stylish cops are welcome. But not
absolute idiots who send cops without guns with the daughter to school. In fact
in most scenes , we are left wondering why
policemen never carry guns.
· None of the villains or their hoodlums
evoke a feeling of fear. Most were trying to imitate Senthil or Vadivel.
· The stunts were poorly made and hence
had to be heavily edited I think. All we saw was some movement followed by
broken glass, furniture or blood. Whatever ensued in between had to be assumed.
· Lighting was too bright to give
a filmy feeling. Looked like a TV serial.
Dear GVM – Subramaniapuram
has long back taken the Tamil audience to a different level. Followed by
Aadukalam, Yudhham sei, Naduvula KPK etc.
Pl Grow up !! This
also applies to my dear Lingaa and Anjaan makers. Less said about these
films the better. Even thinking about Anjaan gives me Nausea.....
