Image
Thursday night - beginning of the third long weekend in a row. Sat-Sun being scheduled for a lil' masonry job at home( supervision only ). Fri the only day for some soul satisfying( !! what was that !!) activity. No plans yet. Am I going to feel guilty on Monday morning. TV shows trailers of Unnai Pol Oruvan - bulb lights in the head - 11.00 pm - switch on the PC - run thru' "The Cinema.net" - not a user friendly site ( in fact buggy - am not able to select seats ) - next stop INOX - matinee 3.45 pm -> no seats, noon 1.00 pm -> no seats , morning show 9.00 am -> 12 seats left but pretty much close to the screen . Call wife - who was getting ready to doze off - shows interest - I book . Fri morning: Wake up at 6 am( a rare event ) - get to Citi Centre just in time - ticket checker at INOX entrance sees print-out ; says, go down to print tickets at the Kiosk - back to Gr. floor - get tickets then up to 3rd floor - security check - just get into the theater a...

For the Sweet Addict

Image
Post the previous piece had got a few queries ; as to what to substitute for sugar....for the sweet taste. First; is it essential ?  It is one of the six primary flavours [ other five being salt, bitter, pungent(hot!) , astringent &; sour ] Though Ayurveda says rice, wheat and cereals do contribute to the sweet taste, I think satiation can come only from the regular sweet as we know it. Pls note, pranic foods in general do come in that taste :) , fruits i mean ...pls refer... http://freeprana.blogspot.com/2009/06/food-prana.html Meanwhile until you are able to achieve "real" Pranic living( fruits, nuts only ) we can use jaggery syrup or date syrup ( not aspartame, sucralose both are toxic , the second one is not even recognised as food and not metabolised, diabetics are happy about it though ,as it does not contribute to a spike in glucose levels. Aspartame is proven to cause cancer in Rats - so as long as you are not a rat maybe u are safe ! ) Honey..?...:  Nev...

Oscars from Freeprana

Today got to see Vijay awards on TV ( missed most of it when it was aired last week ). It is Star-Vijay's annual fete for recognizing 'good' Tamil films and artists who did well in 2008. There were repeated references to Subramaniapuram and Varanam Aayiram; that they would bag many of the awards. ( Knew the results that they actually did win ; as news on the awardees was in the papers last week ) Of 108 films, seems only 7 did really well last year. This was good and bad news. Was glad that many that would have done well in TN a few years back bombed/fared very average ( some even had heroes who had become idols and guaranteed box office success ). This meant the audience was craving something more than pure Shakthi Masala. The bad part was films like Varanam Aayiram and Subramaniapuram that had turned the corner as they claimed, were not "brilliant" , if that is the word. Probably it was ....."In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king". (...

The God of Pop leaves. Will now perform for the Gods.

“Bad” Mike died today. Have rarely felt “sad” . Rarely ; unless it is a very irreplaceable tragedy. Have even wondered why some folks get sad when there is news of death. I thought you just shake it off by getting busy with the next big job on hand. Thought I was "heartless”. However today when a few tears came out and there is a heaviness in the left part of the rib-cage that refuses to go ; I am looking for a reason for this unexpected reaction of mine. Guess it is because I owe something to this phenomenon called Michael Jackson . The ecstasy I experience and the psychedelic state to which Mikey has transported me into with some of his creations, is maybe paranormal . I have been able to walk myself out of many a physical weakness and mental depression with these master piece compositions. MJ's stuff is high voltage energy. The videos can probably make a dead man dance. Adrenalin pumping at the maximum works. This morning when the news of his death came ; I tried ...

The Science

Image
For those who will believe only if there is "scientific" evidence...... ( btw Science as we know it , I think , is only what has been understood by limited brains with more limited tools available for "proving" and understanding. The rest is so easily moved into the realm of superstition, occult etc ). ____________________________________________________________________ Will like to take you along time ; chronologically, from when Protein was a craze, to today's craze behind foods with Antioxidants, Omega 3, DHA ..etc.. ____________________________________________________________________ Protein was the first nutrient to be discovered and was "Found" to be important for building, repairing and maintaining tissues in the body. Just because of this discovery, many products were marketed with the added tag line that it contains "Protein" . Mothers in particular bought foods with added protein so that their kids would grow faster and health...

Queries Answered - 1

I devote this post entirely to answer Cartooniac's queries ( am delighted that some of the queries are related to my future posts planned ) Q1. Assuming the ideology of aura idealistically by science, I've a doubt. If babies are born with full intensity of aura and the retention of aura in its original state is tangibly or intangibly achieved, would there be no death? Retention of Prana permanently, as required for perfect body functioning, is impossible . Reason: With every activity - with eating , walking, even thinking, some cells die and are recreated. After a period of this destruction and recreation - the system needs to be be overhauled (eg. like a vehicle is serviced ) . This can be done effectively with Pranic methods/ Pranic living. However there is a limit to this overhauling too. Prana will diminish ( however in a very slow/healthy pace if we live in tune with nature. ) Or does aura decline with age? Right it does ; what we can call normal wear and tear Why are we ...

Food & Prana

Image
What is the right food for me ? I guess nature as a rule creates food for an organism and only then creates the organism. And while creating an organism ; nature also gives it the required "sense" to identify its food. Well; all of us including animals are blessed with five senses ( the sixth one and most destructive is found only in humans - ability to think ; supreme intelligence, ....whatever ) . The basic senses can serve the purpose of identifying food that is "really" meant for our consumption. As long as we use the senses and consume the right food , Prana is retained and we function to the optimum. We would apply this principle to food as obtained directly from nature only - nothing processed please! Will get started without more preaching . ( Note - am not advocating vegetarianism here ) Let us pick up an Apple and use the senses: Eyes to Look: It looks good , and pretty pleasingly designed ? Nose to Smell: Smells good too. Taste: Hey Great ! Tha...

New to Prana ?

Image
For the uninitiated will begin with an introduction to Prana . Indian languages use this word to convey different meanings. Simply put, it is "Life". I would however be using the word to convey the true meaning - "Cosmic Energy". My sole purpose is to "hope" to communicate to as many, the true meaning of Prana as I have understood it; from short guided learnings from a few professionals and also from personal experiences. Will also suggest a few amateur tips to tap it to derive health and happiness. The fundamental philosophy is that, any form of life/anything living, can be so, only as long as at least a bit of Prana remains in it . The 'measurable' component of this Prana is the 'Aura'. ( Aura I mean is in "Pranic" terms. We of course have the regular alternatives to detect life : Heart beat, Pulse...etc. ). An aura surrounds anything living; and this aura is self generated. Once an organism is not surrounded by this s...
